This gushes with exuberant crushed plum, boysenberry and blackberry fruit, but doesn't turn top-heavy thanks to a well-embedded graphite spine and a long, charcoal-tinged finish. Solid, with grip to match its fruit. Drink now through 2019. 1,333 cases made. –JM (James Molesworth)
An attractive, easy to drink, fruity wine with lots of kirsch, spice box and herbs, this medium-bodied, supple 2010 is very good for its humble appellation.
Une belle palette aromatique, mûre, légèrement confite (cassis frais, résine). Toucher de bouche soigné et rond. D’une texture juteuse, il tapisse joliment la bouche.
80M, 20 cabernet-franc. Robe sombre. Nez très élégant. Bouche dense, long, élégant, belle longueur, tannins fins. (Bernard Burtschy)
This is minerally, with dried flowers and dark chocolate. Full and tannic, but refined in the end.
Very dark crimson – like most of Derenoncourt’s 2010s. Broad and toasty on the nose. Sweet, sharply chiselled, emphatic start. Edgy and marked by very pronounced acidity at the moment. It may soften but it’s awfully hard work at the moment. Drink 2016-2021
Vin coloré, au nez discret et fruité, à la bouche tendre, moelleuse, plaisante avec du goût et un mélange de sensations fraîches et mûres. Tannins agréables.
Easy to drink, medium bodied, uncomplicated, fresh, round wine with ample ripe, sweet cherries and plum notes in the finish. Drink this on the young side. (Tasted Mar 11, 2014)
2010 Le Pin Beausoleil (Bordeaux Superieur) - 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. Aged in one third new oak, two thirds used oak. 4.6 hectares planted in clay and limestone soils, average vine age 35 years. Alcohol 15%. This dense wine showcases loads of forward creamy black fruit, a touch of fresh earth and an underlying sense of minerality. Big and packed, the tannins build in the back but still keep a sense of freshness with high-toned acids. This will likely need another 3-5 years in bottle to tame the acids and drink well over the following 5-7 years.

Chateau le Pin Beausoleil is grown on the best plots of the estate, one of 5 hectares near the chateau, in Saint-Vincent de Pertignas, on a beautifully situated, well drained clay-limestone plateau and on a smaller plot of 2 hectares in Merignas, in the middle of a small forest, the soil here also has a wonderful clay-limestone structure.
