The 2018 Le Pin Beausoleil is absolutely superb. A burst of sweet red fruit and floral notes make a strong first impression, but more than anything else the 2018 impresses for its energy, focus and overall balance. Once again, Le Pin Beausoleil is an overachiever in its peer group. The blend is 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc. Merlot was affected more my mildew, which tilts the balance of the wine towards Franc, which is not a bad thing at all, as the 2018 is a jewel of a wine.
This captures the profile of the vintage to a T, with exuberant melted licorice, plum and cassis fruit flavors and slightly tarry grip, all on a frame that will be accessible in the early going.—J.M.
This outstanding, Bordeaux value wine is ripe, sweet, fresh, juicy, forward and on the black cherry and plum side with hints of licorice in finish.
A solid core of fruit here with ripe berries and hints of citrus, such as lemon rind. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a flavorful finish. One of the best from here.

Chateau le Pin Beausoleil is grown on the best plots of the estate, one of 5 hectares near the chateau, in Saint-Vincent de Pertignas, on a beautifully situated, well drained clay-limestone plateau and on a smaller plot of 2 hectares in Merignas, in the middle of a small forest, the soil here also has a wonderful clay-limestone structure.
